College Counseling

At Beacon, we have found that expert college counseling is the best way to help students set clear goals,
navigate graduation with ease, and enjoy the journey through their junior and senior years. Although we do not believe that the purpose of high school is to get into college, we want to ensure that our graduates
matriculate into universities that will continue to cultivate their remarkable talents. Our overriding goal is to equip students to succeed in college and beyond–in the life that they will make for themselves after
college. We aim to prepare our graduates to transition into adulthood with grace and confidence.

One of the signature benefits of Beacon being a Greenwich Education Group school is that our college counseling program is run by a professional team of educational consultants. William W. Dennett designed our college placement program to reflect his years of experience on both sides of college admissions. Bill and his team work closely with our students, advising on course selection, long-range planning and the college application process. Formal individual and group meetings with the college team begin midway through junior year and are integrated into student schedules. With SAT, ACT, and AP exams administered on site, Beacon students can rest assured that they will go through this process on their own turf. And because they have always played an active role in their educations at Beacon, they are ready to step into the increased freedom of their college years.

Beacon students stand out amongst their friends in other schools as being the most relaxed juniors and
seniors around. Our approach is to eliminate the hype and hysteria, focus students on the key components of the admissions process, ensure that their application materials are of the highest quality, and facilitate placement in a college where they will thrive. For some students, this may be a liberal arts college; for others, it may be a school of arts, technology or design. Whatever the path, our college team is here to prepare, guide and empower students.
