Course Selection

Every year, Beacon students meet with their advisor and the head of school to develop their own course of
study. Long-term and short-term student goals are considered, as well as parent perspectives, teacher recommendations, community opportunities and future admissions considerations. The result of the course selection process is a unique educational plan that leverages on students’ strengths, develops their talents, addresses their needs and excites their curiosity.

We understand that not all school will be fun, and not all fun will be school. But when a school embraces the concept of joyful learning, these distinctions blur, and young people begin to turn away from the idea that education is a chore. This is what ultimately motivates us as educators.
