Acceleration

“High ability students have already mastered 30-50% of the year’s curriculum before their first day of class.”1

A key component to gifted education is acceleration in one or more subject areas. In a traditional classroom, advanced learners often sit through hours of instruction in which material they have already mastered is presented to them again and again. At Beacon, we have the flexibility to bypass these fallow learning periods and introduce challenging new material. Through targeted pre-assessment, curriculum compacting, adjusted pacing and advanced studies, we are able to keep even the most precocious learners engaged.
