The performing arts are not only an important part of our social and artistic landscape, but they also draw on a set of skills important to all people. Verbal communication, spacial awareness, literary analysis, aesthetics, movement and empathy unite when studying the performing arts. In addition to traditional performing arts studies in improvisation and shakespeare, Beacon students can also study specialized performing arts courses, such as slam poetry, film history and mime. Beacon drama classes seek to instill powerful expressive means, to refine and nurture playful talents, and to teach the crucial skills of public presentation.
